Recently, I visited the Gold Cinema near Paltan Bazar, Guwahati, to watch the famous Assamese film Bidurbhai.
This was my first time at this location, although I had previously visited the Gold Cinema in North Lakhimpur. My experience there was excellent—the hall was clean, the screen quality was good, and the seats were comfortable. With such a positive image of Gold Cinema in my mind, I booked my ticket and headed to the Guwahati location with high expectations.
I arrived at the cinema around 8:20 PM and was shocked by what I encountered. As I entered, a boy checked my ticket, but there was no security check for bags or any other precautions.
When I entered the main hall, the first thing I noticed was the screen. It was dirty and in poor condition. I made my way to my seat, and that’s when the most shocking part of my visit happened. My seat area was filthy, with gutka stains all around. The place where people usually keep their popcorn and coke was covered in spit.
To make matters worse, I noticed several people in the hall openly chewing gutka during the movie and spitting in the corners. The condition was so bad that it felt like I was watching the movie from a gutter.
My overall impression of Gold Cinema, Paltan Bazar, was quite negative. The hall was dirty and badly kept, and some of the audience members' actions made things more worse. I'm hoping the management acts to turn things around and rebuild Gold Cinema's standing in Guwahati.
